Michael Robinson Jr. The initial vote was 6-1, with board member Carla Jackson dissenting. But the board held a secondary "consensus vote," in which Jackson changed her vote to make it unanimous.“I’m talking to families pretty frequently, 10 to 15 a day, who just aren’t ready for the school year,” said Akron Public Schools homeless liaison Shannah Carino. She said around 2,000 students, roughly 10% of the district, do not have a permanent home, staying in shelters, couch surfing or bouncing around hotels.
