Its a 51 V8 flathead with the distributor on the side of the engine, not the front. The firing order is 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2. The cylinders are 1-2-3-4 front to back on the passenger's side and 5-6-7-8 front to back on the driver's side. Driver and passenger side assume a left hand drive vehicle.The firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 when starting the proper terminal on the distributor cap, although my wires were in the proper order, the #1 was placed where wire 2 should have been and they follow in order from there. I thought if you advance the timing you did that with the timing chain and every thing else stays the same.
